Ensuring that everyone in the organization is on board with the vision, mission, and core values of the company is the most underestimated part of leadership I’ve seen. People tend to feel that spending too much time talking about the why, what, and how stands in the way of delivering true results. It’s the opposite. When we focus solely on the day-to-day tasks, projects and deadlines, we miss the big picture. Without that to guide us, we might not make the best long-term decisions. Over time, that erodes our ability to stay competitive, be agile, and adapt to an ever-changing business landscape. Helping others align and connect with the company’s vision, mission, and core values is perhaps the most important thing C-level executives do.
