STOP interviewing people for WHAT THEY’VE DONE.
START interviewing people for WHO THEY ARE.
Asking nothing but “Tell me about a time WHEN” questions, isn’t going to necessarily predict how someone will behave in the future. We like to THINK it will. We say, “Well, past behavior is an indicator of future behavior”. But, questions about how someone resolved a conflict with a client or hit their sales goals are easy to practice and rehearse. They tell you LITTLE about someone’s core values or beliefs.
In this video, I share questions that have told me FAR MORE about the individual I’m seated across than all the stereotypical questions I often see on “interviewing guides”.
