“I now believe lightning does indeed strike twice! Master storyteller Amy Chambers has done it again. On the heels of her first book, 7 V.I.R.T.U.E.S. of Exceptional Leaders, which itself was an imperative wake-up call to effective leadership, comes her latest book, 6 H.A.B.I.T.S. of Powerful People. She really does come off as the heir apparent to Stephen R. Covey’s groundbreaking work on the 7 Habits. This latest book by Chambers shows her (and our) indomitable spirit and gives us a palpable sense of what it means to truly operate on all six leadership cylinders. Written in a conversational tone, one imagines this is what Chambers would say to you in a personal one-on-one coaching session. Chambers delivers up a winning recipe that is the perfect combination of wisdom, experience, and a road map for real achievement. Another command performance!”
– Ara Norwood, Publisher of Uncommon Sense
“I found it incredibly hard to put this book down once I started reading it! The 6 H.A.B.I.T.S. are powerful and insightful concepts that I believe anyone could benefit from. In Habit 6: Stay Secure and Strong, Amy states how “cognitive redirection is a beautiful thing, but it can’t happen if we choose to live in autopilot.” Isn’t that the truth? Reading this book really inspired me to live a more conscious life and not be afraid to create big goals.”
– Emma Tomlinson, Head of Facilities and Building Security

– Felicia Coney, Director of Talent , Optimization & Engagement
“I read a lot of books about mindset and inspiration, but rarely have I found one that contains so many “Yes – I totally agree!” moments. As I read 6 H.A.B.I.T.S., I kept finding passages where Amy would capture something which I intuitively believe, but in words which made the point easy to understand and remember. I have so many pages in the book now which I have “dog eared” so I can go back to them quickly when I need to be reminded or inspired about these important principles. There are certainly books out there that cover the same ideas as Amy does, but she does it in a way that is very personal, authentic, and relatable, not in an academic, “ivory tower” sort of way. I am already recommending this book to my friends and family and recommend it to Amazon shoppers as well.”
– Shawn Hoyt, Senior Deal Desk, Operations, and Legal Executive
“Amy has done it again. Now we have her second book, and it is a winner. Her first book, “7 Virtues of Exceptional Leaders” offered a straightforward set of ideas to become an exceptional leader. She used her real-world, personal experience plus extensive research from other authors and practitioners to offer a clear, concise path to becoming a more effective leader at any level. Book #1 focuses on being a leader, leading people. They might be employees, members of a charitable board of directors, even members of law enforcement or the military. It is about being able to lead others better. Now Book #2, “6 Habits of Powerful People,” comes along and it is not about leading others but rather developing and leading ourselves. She is not suggesting we will be powerful in terms of what we do to others. Her message is clear: we need to develop a set of habits to make ourselves, you, and me, into the best human beings possible. As before, the book is well researched and full of stories both from Amy and others to reinforce her “6 Habits.” How to read the book? I think it is, again, best to read the entire book at a comfortable pace and do your best to identify with the issues Amy is presenting. Then go back and look for those areas where you need the most improvement. It is possible you already have a great grip on some of the habits but need to work on others remembering the habits are overlapping and connected. As the meditation for May 5 says in “The Daily Stoic” by Ryan Holliday: You are the project. This is your challenge. Find the areas where you know you can improve and “just do it.”

Amy’s insights resonated deeply with me, and knowing Amy personally, I could hear her voice in every word, making the reading both enlightening and enjoyable.”
– Austin Metoyer, President and CEO of the Downtown Long Beach Alliance
“This book is a must read for anyone seeking to be their best selves and live a happier and fuller life! What makes the book such a compelling read is that she intertwines her own life experiences (setbacks and all) to take the reader along with her on her own self-improvement journey. She makes it clear that if she is able to do it – anyone can. She is also vulnerable in her story telling that draws you in and makes it an easy read – you will laugh and you will cry but most importantly you will be inspired to be your best self!”
– Jaime Arroyo, Relationship Officer

“What is most inspirational about this book is that Amy has lived and experienced all that she discusses. She shares her experiences while providing life guiding lessons that can enable any person to become a much better version of themselves in both a personal and professional way. This book is a keeper!”
-Peter Hejny, Freelance Writer
“Amy’s Book, 6 H.A.B.I.T.S. of Powerful People, is a fantastic read. This book should be the textbook prerequisite to the course of Life Improvements. She simplifies complex life changing habits to small bite-size actionable tasks. Her personal stories and experiences are touching and relatable. I love all the “Act Now” Call-to-action elements in the chapters. I marked up the book with notes to go back and execute her valuable suggestions. Very motivating. I have gotten to know Amy personally through the years from being in the same running club. I am lucky to call her a friend. Through this book I got to know her on a deeper level, and got a glimpse of how she became so successful. Her writing style feels very relaxed, almost as if you’re having direct conversation with her. It’s humbling and very relatable. I recommend this book for anyone that wants to make improvements in their life.”

“I love how Amy talks about boundaries in this book. I’ve been known as the “yes” man for years, taking numerous challenges and chances since 2016. That’s served me greatly and rewarded me very well. But recently, I have been learning to say “No”. Because about a month ago. I’ve realized that I have said no to myself too many times.
Since reading this book, I have written down goals for myself and spent time figuring out the steps I need to take (to reach them) and prioritizing them in order. I’ve caught up with myself and figured out a plan. Since reading this book, I’ve said “No” to a few things, so I can say “Yes” to myself. I am honoring my boundaries.
Chapter 4 (Inspire Yourself) and Chapter 5 (Trust and Treasure Yourself) have been a huge part of my growing transformation. These chapters were perfect timing for me. I am already finding my strength again; strength in being independent and strength from accepting others as they are. Which has ironically helped accept myself as I am and take things less personally. This book reminds me that I can choose to be uncomfortable and it’s helping me in my quest to have a better mindset of living..”
